INTERNATIONAL ART CAMP VLAICU IONESCU CALIMANESTI 2008 7-20 July

International Art Camp Vlaicu Ionescu , from Calimanesti, Romania is at the second edition this year. The objective of this activity is to put together artists all around the Europe and to contribute through artistic act to the development of intercultural and interreligious dialog. Every participant performer is presenting its artistic abilities (painting, sculpture, art chronicles), as well as a presentation about its country of origin during the art camp. The main idea of the project is to promote cultural exchanges and to preserve cultural identities, confronting the invasion of global culture. Its activity is connected to promotion of UNESCO Conventions on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (Paris, 20 October 2005) and Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (Paris, 16 November 1972). During every Art Camp organisers are doing an activity connected to the promotion of a UNESCO World Heritage Site from the region as well as art exhibitions, happenings, concerts and projections in order to attract the attention of the community on the importance of preservation of traditional cultural values and identities.

This year the project will be dedicated to cultural routes – From East to West and will start in Romania on July,8 -20 and will be continued in Principality of Andorra, hosted by National Commission of Andorra for UNESCO and its partners from July, 23 to August,4.
